embracing the beauty of uniqueness
Every planter in our Bad Names Range undergoes its own journey. Crafted using time-honoured techniques, each piece tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and the raw beauty of natural materials. Here’s how our handmade rustic Thai planters come to life:

Step 1 | The foundation
It all begins with the clay - locally sourced, rich in minerals, and hand-processed to ensure both colour consistency and structural integrity.
This high-quality clay lays the groundwork for the unique textures and organic finishes that define the Bad Names Range.

Step 2 | Shaped by hand
Each pot is formed using centuries-old techniques, a process mastered over generations.
Depending on the design, our planters are either hand-spun on a wheel or shaped using traditional moulds before being meticulously refined by hand. This hands-on approach gives every piece its one-of-a-kind character.

Step 3 | the drying phase
Once shaped, the planters are left to dry naturally. To speed up the curing process, small wood-fired baskets are placed inside each pot - an ancient practice that enhances durability while preserving the raw beauty of the clay.

Step 4 | The Kiln Firing
At approximately 80% dry, the planters are carefully stacked inside traditional wood-fired kilns, some of which have been in use for over 100 years.
This slow, intense firing process - reaching temperatures of 1000°C - creates the distinct variations in tone, surface texture, and rustic imperfections that make each pot truly unique.

Step 5 | The quality check
Once cooled, every planter undergoes a rigorous quality inspection. From ensuring structural integrity to assessing its one-of-a-kind finish, only the finest pots make it through this final check.

Step 6 | The Journey Begins
To guarantee a safe arrival, each planter is individually packaged in a custom-built wooden crate.
This ensures that your handmade pot, infused with history and craftsmanship, arrives in perfect condition - ready to find its place in your space.

Step 7 | A Story in Every Planter
The end result? A collection of handmade planters that celebrate imperfection, texture, and individuality. Each one is a testament to time-honoured craftsmanship, where no two pieces are ever the same - just as nature intended.
