At The Balcony Garden, we want you to love your pots. We've been designing them since 2006, and the overwhelming majority of our customers are thrilled with what arrives. But we know buying online — especially something as considered as a designer planter — comes with questions, so here's exactly how returns work, explained plainly.
An honest note about freight
Our pots are beautiful, but they're fragile and they're often heavy. That makes them genuinely expensive to ship — both to you and, if it ever comes to it, back to us. We'd rather be upfront about that now than have you discover it later. Because of this, the smartest thing you can do is buy with confidence the first time, and we're always here to help. If you're unsure about size, finish, or which pot suits your space or your plant, just ask — we'll send you real photos and help you choose before you commit.
If your order arrives damaged
We pack every order carefully and we stand behind every delivery. In the rare case that something arrives damaged, we'll make it right at no cost to you.
Just email us at [info@thebalconygarden.co] within 48 hours of your order arriving, with a photo of the damage and your order number. We'll arrange a free replacement — there's nothing for you to send back and no freight cost to you. No forms, no fuss.
Defective items
If a product develops a fault that isn't the result of normal wear, accident, or misuse, get in touch and we'll work with you to repair, replace, or refund it as appropriate. Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have under applicable state or federal law.
Change-of-mind returns
If you've simply changed your mind, we're happy to accept a return within the conditions below. (For damaged or defective items, see the two sections above instead.)
You have 7 days from receiving your order to let us know you'd like to return it. Email us at [info@thebalconygarden.co] with your order number and we'll send you a return authorization to get started. Please don't ship anything back before you've received it, so we can make sure your return is handled correctly.
Return shipping is arranged and paid for by you. Because our products are fragile, returns must be sent using the freight partner we recommend — they know how to pack and handle our pots properly. We'll provide you with a quote from them first, so you can see the cost and decide whether returning is worth it for you. We don't charge a restocking fee — you're only ever covering the freight.
One return per order. You're welcome to return as many items from an order as you like in that one return, but we're unable to process multiple back-and-forth returns on the same order.
For us to accept a change-of-mind return, the pots must come back to us in the same condition they left:
- In their original packaging, including the plastic wrapping
- Clean and unused — no soil or dirt inside, and not planted up
- Undamaged
Items that don't meet these conditions can't be accepted, and we'll arrange to return them to you at your cost.
How your refund is processed
Once your return arrives at our facility and we've confirmed it meets the conditions above, we'll process your refund to your original payment method within 3 business days. Original shipping charges are non-refundable for change-of-mind returns. You'll receive an email confirming once it's done.
Items we can't accept for change-of-mind returns
- Sale or clearance items.
- Pre-orders.
- Made to order or customer items.
- Trade or wholesale orders.
- Gift cards.

2-Year Limited Warranty

1. Scope of this Limited Warranty
This is a Limited Warranty provided voluntarily by The Balcony Garden ("the Company"). It is extended to the original purchaser only and is non-transferable. It applies to products purchased for personal, family, or household use within the United States.
This Limited Warranty applies to purchases made on or after 5th June 2026.
2. Warranty period and commencement
The Company warrants its products against manufacturing defects for a period of 24 months.
- Commencement date: The warranty period begins on the date of purchase (the date of the original sales invoice).
- No extensions: This period is not extended or reset by the date you first use the product, the date of delivery, or any period during which the product is in storage.
- Replacement terms: Any replacement product provided under this Limited Warranty is covered only for the remaining balance of the original 24-month period from the original purchase date.
3. What is covered
This Limited Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship that appear during normal residential use. Coverage applies to structural failures (such as spontaneous splitting or material disintegration) that are a direct result of the manufacturing process.
4. What is not covered
This Limited Warranty does not cover, and the following will not be considered manufacturing defects:
- General wear and tear: Gradual aesthetic or material change inherent to outdoor use, including UV-related color fading, surface "chalking," patina, oxidation, and minor surface scratches, dents, or chips that do not compromise structural integrity.
- Efflorescence: The appearance of white, powdery salt deposits (efflorescence) is a natural material occurrence.
- Root pressure: Structural failures caused by the expansion of root systems, including cracking or splitting from internal root pressure or failure to re-pot a plant that has outgrown its container.
- Maintenance and misuse: Damage resulting from improper drainage (such as failing to keep drainage holes clear), use of unsuitable filling materials, placement on shifting or uneven ground, or extreme weather events.
- Modification: Damage arising from modifications such as painting or drilling.
- Non-residential use: Use of the product in a commercial environment, such as hospitality or public spaces.
5. What the Company will do
For a valid and approved claim, the Company will, at its option, repair or replace the defective product and deliver the replacement to your original U.S. shipping address at no charge to you.
- Out of stock or discontinued: If the identical model, size, or color is out of stock or discontinued, the Company may provide a replacement of comparable function and retail value.
- Refund: If no comparable replacement is available, the Company will refund the original purchase price paid for the product.
This Limited Warranty covers the replacement product only. It does not cover the labor of removing old plants, disposal of soil, re-potting, or any third-party gardening or landscaping services, and does not cover transplant shock or the health, survival, or loss of any plant material associated with re-potting or relocation.
6. Limitation of liability
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE USE OR FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT, INCLUDING DAMAGE TO FLOORING OR SURROUNDING PROPERTY, OR ANY FINANCIAL LOSS. THE COMPANY'S TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO THE REPAIR, REPLACEMENT, OR REFUND OF THE PRODUCT AS SET OUT ABOVE.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
7. Implied warranties
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE 24-MONTH TERM OF THIS WRITTEN LIMITED WARRANTY.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
8. Your state law rights
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
9. How to obtain warranty service
To make a claim under this Limited Warranty:
- Contact the Company in writing within a reasonable time of discovering the issue, using the contact details below.
- Provide a copy of your original sales invoice as proof of purchase date.
- Submit clear, high-resolution photographs showing (a) the defect in detail, (b) the pot in its entirety as currently planted, and (c) the environment where the pot is situated.
- Retain the product for inspection if requested by the Company.
The Company will advise you of the outcome and, for approved claims, arrange repair, replacement, or refund as set out in Section 5.
