General Care

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can cause its leaves to burn.

Water

When watering your Hoya Heart, it's essential to strike a balance. The best way to water your plant is to wait until the top inch of the soil is dry before watering. Never let your Hoya sit in standing water, which can lead to root rot.

Humidity

Prefers a humid environment. If the air in your home is dry, consider using a humidifier or placing a tray of water near the plant to increase the humidity. You can also regularly mist the plant's leaves to provide extra moisture.

Here are some interesting facts that you may not have known about this plant:

Symbolic Meaning: Hoya Kerrii is known as the "sweetheart plant" or "Lucky Heart" because of its heart-shaped leaves. The plant symbolises love, luck, and prosperity, making it a popular gift for weddings, anniversaries, and other special occasions.

Propagation: This plant can be easily propagated from stem cuttings. However, this plant is unique because the cuttings need to have a leaf attached to them to root successfully. The Hoya heart plant has adapted to growing as a single leaf on a stem in its natural habitat, making it different from other plants that can root from a stem without a leaf.

Natural Habitat: Hoya Kerrii is native to Southeast Asia and grows as an epiphyte on trees or rocks. Moths in its natural habitat often pollinate it!
